Start with the room

Which double roller blind is right for you

Start with what you need from the window, by day and by night.

Keep the view by day

Make the translucent blind sunscreen: a see-through mesh that cuts glare. At night, lower the blockout blind too.

Privacy by day

Make the translucent blind light-filtering: soft light, and people can’t see in by day.

A shallow recess

The recess is the opening the window sits in. Under 125 mm deep? Choose the slimline double bracket, or fit it on the wall.

Only need one blind

If a room only ever needs dark, or only privacy, a single roller blind costs less.

Fabrics

Light levels and fabrics

Pick the blockout fabric, then the translucent fabric. You also choose which blind sits in front. Every swatch in the configurator is a photo of the real fabric.

Blockout stops light coming through the fabric. A little still gets in around the edges.

Light-filtering softens the light, and people can't see in by day.

Sunscreen is a see-through mesh that cuts glare and keeps your view by day. At night, with lights on, people can see in.

Translucent blind (sunscreen or light-filter) — 9 ranges, 86 colours

Enter your width and drop. The drop is the height you want covered.

Then pick the blockout fabric, the translucent fabric and which one sits in front. The price updates with every choice.

Fit

Fit and controls

Recess fit means the blinds sit inside the recess. Face fit means they go on the wall or frame, over the opening, and it’s the safe choice if you’re not sure.

Two rolls, one bracket

The bracket

  • Brackets: the regular double bracket, or the slimline double bracket, which holds the two rolls closer together for a shallower recess.
  • Chains: one per blind, included, in white, black or grey. Silver nickel and stainless steel cost a little extra.
  • Bottom bars: flat or oval, or silent bars that don’t clink on the sill, in silver, white or black.
  • Blind order: you choose blockout in front with the translucent blind behind, or blockout at the back with the translucent blind in front.

Cords and chains must be fitted so they can't hang in a loop within a child's reach. That's Australia's mandatory child-safety standard for corded window coverings, and our install guides show how.

Measuring

How to measure

You need a steel tape measure and a few minutes per window.

  1. 01

    Recess depth

Check it first. A recess fit with the regular double bracket needs about 125 mm.

  2. 02

    Width

Measure at the top, where the brackets (the fittings that hold the blinds up) go. Recess fit: the exact opening. Face fit: the width you want covered.

  3. 03

    Drop

Measure from the top of the bracket to where you want the bottom bars to finish. We make them up to 2,800 mm wide and 3,000 mm drop.

Motors

Motorised double roller blinds

No cords at all. Motorise the front blind only, or both.

  • One remote: each motorised blind has its own motor, and one remote runs them all.
  • Battery motor: charges from a USB cable about twice a year. No electrician needed.
  • Wired motor: never needs charging, but needs power at the window.
  • The motors: battery Acmeda Automate Wire Free (1.1 Nm and 2.0 Nm) or Somfy Sonesse 30 Wire Free; wired Acmeda Automate E6, Somfy Altus RTS 3 Nm or Somfy Sonesse RTS 3 Nm. If in doubt, go one size up.
  • Remotes: the remote must match the motor brand, so an Acmeda remote for Acmeda motors and a Somfy remote for Somfy.

What are double roller blinds called?

Day and night blinds, dual roller blinds or double blinds. They all mean two roller blinds on one double bracket: a blockout blind and a translucent blind in a sunscreen or light-filter fabric.

Are double roller blinds worth it?

Yes, if one window needs privacy by day and dark at night: you get both from one set of brackets. If a room only needs one or the other, a single roller blind costs less.

Which blind goes at the front?

You choose the blind order in the configurator: blockout in front with the translucent blind behind, or blockout at the back with the translucent blind in front. The front blind is the one you see from the room.

How deep does my recess need to be?

About 125 mm for a recess fit with the regular double bracket. The slimline double bracket suits a shallower recess, or fit it on the wall over the opening if you’re not sure.

Can I motorise double roller blinds?

Yes. Motorise the front blind only, or both, with a battery motor (charged by USB about twice a year) or a wired motor. One remote runs them all if it matches the motor brand.

What sizes can you make?

Up to 2,800 mm wide and 3,000 mm drop. The configurator tells you straight away if a fabric can’t be made to your size.

How long do double roller blinds take?

We dispatch it 8 to 15 business days after you order.

Can I see the fabrics before I order?

Yes. Order up to 10 free samples, posted free, and hold them at your own window before you decide.

What if I measure wrong?

Add the Perfect Fit Guarantee when you design it (+$29 a blind). We video call you to check your measurements before we make it. If a measuring error means it still arrives the wrong size, we make it again.

Not sure about the colour?

Try it at your window first

Colours look different on a screen. Order up to 10 samples, posted free, and hold them at your own window.
