Colours

Slats and colours

Tilt the slats half-open for daylight with privacy, close them for more, or lift the blind for the view. These are the colours each venetian comes in today, as the configurator shows them.

Tilted half-open, the slats let daylight in and stop people seeing in clearly.

Closed, they block most of the light. Raised, the whole window is clear.

Fit

Fit and controls

Recess fit means the blind sits inside the recess, the opening the window sits in. Face fit means it goes on the wall or frame, over the opening, and blocks more light around the edges.

Recess fit: the blind sits inside the window frame. Face fit: it mounts on the wall above and covers the frame.

  • Lift cord and tilt control: the cord raises the blind and the tilt control angles the slats.
  • Control side: the side they hang on, as you look from inside the room. Pick the side you can reach easily.
  • Slat width: PVC comes in 50 or 63 mm. The 63 mm slat means fewer, wider slats and a clearer view when tilted open.
  • Hold-down clips: for a door, or a window that opens inwards. They pin the bottom of the blind so it doesn’t swing.

Cords and chains must be fitted so they can't hang in a loop within a child's reach. That's Australia's mandatory child-safety standard for corded window coverings, and our install guides show how.

Measuring

How to measure

You need a steel tape measure and a few minutes per window.

  1. 01

    Recess fit

Measure the width at the top, middle and bottom, and use the smallest. The drop is the height: measure it on the left, middle and right, and use the smallest. We take off a small allowance so the blind runs freely.

  2. 02

    Face fit

Measure the area you want covered. Go at least 50 mm past the recess on each side, and at the top and bottom.

  3. 03

    Check the size

Timber and PVC: up to 2,400 mm wide and 2,600 mm drop. Aluminium: up to 3,000 mm wide and 3,000 mm drop. The configurator tells you straight away if a size won’t work.

FAQ

Questions

Need a replacement part? All spare parts

What are venetian blinds?

Horizontal slats hung on cords. Tilt the slats to control light and privacy, or raise the whole blind with the lift cord. We make them in timber, PVC and aluminium.

Should I choose timber, PVC or aluminium?

Timber for warmth in dry rooms like lounge rooms, bedrooms and studies. PVC or aluminium for kitchens, bathrooms and laundries, where steam would bother timber.

Can I put timber venetians in a bathroom?

We don’t recommend it. Timber is for dry rooms. In a bathroom or laundry, choose PVC or aluminium.

What is the difference between 25 mm and 50 mm slats?

25 mm slats are slim and suit small and standard windows; we make them from 120 mm wide. 50 mm slats look bolder, with fewer slats and a clearer view when tilted open.

Is PVC the same as faux wood?

Yes. Our PVC venetian (Visionwood) is often called faux wood: PVC slats with a timber look, in 50 or 63 mm.

Can I fit a venetian blind on a door?

Yes. Add hold-down clips when you design it. They pin the bottom of the blind so it doesn’t swing when the door opens.

How do I clean venetian blinds?

Close the slats and dust them, or wipe them with a damp cloth. PVC and aluminium handle a wipe-down; timber just needs a dust.

How much do venetian blinds cost?

It depends on the type, width and drop. Each card above shows today’s starting price, and the configurator prices your sizes as you go.

How long do venetian blinds take?

We aim to dispatch it within 15 business days of your order.

What if I measure wrong?

Add the Perfect Fit Guarantee when you design it (from $19 a blind, depending on the venetian). We video call you to check your measurements before we make it. If a measuring error means it still arrives the wrong size, we make it again.
