Pinch pleat curtains, made to measure

Pinch pleat curtains have the fabric stitched into neat folds along the top, in pairs or threes, so they hang in tailored columns. We sew them in sheer or blockout fabric to your size in Australia, on a track cut to your width, and you hang them yourself.

In the designer, choose Double Pinch Pleat or Triple Pinch Pleat under Heading style.

Pick a fabric. See the price.

Six sheer and three blockout fabrics, each one available with a double or triple pinch pleat. Pick a fabric to see its price, then design yours at your own size.

Prices are for one curtain 2.0 m wide with a 2.4 m drop, from the track to the hem. They include GST and a ceiling track you open by hand. The heading doesn’t change the price.

Sheer 6 fabrics

A light, see-through fabric. By day it softens the sun and stops people seeing in.

Blockout 3 fabrics

A dense fabric that stops light coming through it, so the room goes dark when you close the curtains.

Design yours and see the price

In the curtain designer, choose Double Pinch Pleat or Triple Pinch Pleat under Heading style. Then enter the track width and the drop, which is the height from the track to the hem. The price updates with every choice.

Is pinch pleat right for you

The heading is the style at the top of a curtain. A pinch pleat stitches the fabric into small groups of folds, and below the stitch it falls straight.

  • Double pinch pleat

Two folds in each group. Neat and tailored, and it suits a classic lounge or bedroom.

  • Triple pinch pleat

Three folds in each group, so it looks fuller. It suits formal rooms and heavier fabrics.

  • Soft light by day

Pinch pleat, S-fold or pencil pleat?

Fullness is how much fabric goes across the track, as a multiple of the track width.

Fit and controls

Every curtain we make comes on its own track, cut to your width, so the pleats and the track always match.

  • Where the track goes: on the ceiling (top fit), or on the wall above the window (face fit, + $20).
  • Hand-drawn track: residential or designer, white or black, $60 a metre, with a 910, 1,220 or 1,520 mm wand.
  • Motorised track: Somfy Movelite (battery, with a charger) or Somfy Glydea 35e (wired), each with a Situo 1 remote and priced by width. Pinch pleats work on both. Motorised blinds and curtains
  • Opening: one curtain that stacks left or right, or a pair that opens from the centre.
  • Hem and length: a lead-weight hem for a sheer, or a 70 mm hem for blockout. Finish 20 mm off the floor, touching it, or puddled.

How to measure

Measure the track, not the window. You need a steel tape and a few minutes per window.

Harries Carroll on a step reaching up to hang a sheer curtain on a ceiling track
  1. 01

    Width is the track length

Run the track at least 150 mm past the window frame on each side, so the open curtain stacks off the glass.

  2. 02

    Decide where the track goes

On the ceiling for the cleanest line, or on the wall above the window.

  3. 03

    Drop is track to hem

Measure from the track to where you want the hem. For puddled, we add 20 mm for you.

  4. 04

    Check the size

We make curtains from 800 mm to 5,750 mm wide, and 900 mm to 4,000 mm drop.

  5. 05

    Hang it yourself

The track comes with brackets and instructions. Fix it up, then hook the curtain on. Stuck? Call 1300 195 797.

Questions

Need new hooks or pendants? Spare parts for curtains

What is a pinch pleat curtain?

A curtain with its fabric stitched into small groups of folds along the top. The groups are evenly spaced, and the fabric falls straight below them.

What’s the difference between double and triple pinch pleat?

A double pinch pleat has two folds in each group. A triple has three, so it uses a little more fabric and looks fuller. Both cost the same in our designer.

Pinch pleat or S-fold: which is more modern?

S-fold is the softer, modern wave. Pinch pleat looks tailored and a little more traditional. Both work in sheer and blockout fabric, and on a hand-drawn or motorised track.

Do pinch pleat curtains use more fabric?

A double pinch pleat uses about twice the track width in fabric, and a triple about two and a half times. You don’t work it out: enter the track width and we allow for it. The heading doesn’t change the price.

Can I hang them on my existing track or rod?

No. We make every curtain with its own track, cut to your width, so the pleats and the track match. We don’t make curtains for a track or rod you already have.

Which way should my curtains open?

You can have one curtain that stacks to the left or the right, or a pair that opens from the centre. Stack it away from a door or the part of the view you use most.
