The living room and bedrooms here are dressed straight from our range: white roman blinds on the windows either side of the fireplace, and floor-length sheers in the bedrooms. Same ranges, same hardware you order online and put up yourself.

The Astoria 39R is one of Better Built Homes’ double-storey family designs: four bedrooms, three bathrooms and five living areas, with big windows through the living zones. We didn’t make anything special for it. The white romans on the windows either side of the fireplace and the floor-length sheers in the bedrooms are standard configurator orders: measured, made to size, and fitted with the same brackets and tracks we post to you.
What you’re looking at
Roman blinds on the two windows flanking the fireplace: flat fabric panels that lift into neat, even folds.
Mounted above the frame, so the panel sits flat to the wall and clears the mantel line.
Floor-length sheers in the bedrooms, hung from the ceiling line so the window reads taller than it is.
Sheers give daytime privacy without losing the light. Layer a blockout roller behind them if you want a dark room for sleep.
Whites and off-whites throughout, kept quiet against the timber and stone.
Romans run on a cord-and-cleat or chain drive. Both ship with the child-safety fittings the standard requires.
Living room
The living-room windows sit either side of the fireplace, small and deep, and a curtain would have swallowed them. A roman gives a flat, tailored panel that lifts clear of the mantel and drops back into neat folds. White fabric keeps them quiet against the stone and timber.
Nothing about this is a builder-only spec. Pick Roman Blinds, your light level and fabric, then cord-and-cleat or chain control. That’s the order.
Bedrooms. Every bedroom gets the same treatment: a floor-length sheer, hung from the ceiling line, in a soft white. Sheers won’t black a room out. If you need dark for sleep, layer a blockout roller behind them and order both to the same window width.
Kitchen and dining. Not every window needs dressing. The kitchen servery and the alfresco sliders were left bare, which is the right call when a window doesn’t face the street or take the afternoon sun. Spend the budget where it earns its keep: the rooms you sleep in and the windows that cop the glare.
Order the same setup
1. Measure. Width and drop for each window. Our measuring guides walk you through it, and you can add the Perfect Fit Guarantee to your order to cover a measuring slip.
2. Configure. Roman Blinds → your light level → fabric → Cord and Cleat or Chain Drive. For the bedrooms: Sheer Curtains → S-Fold → Residential track, White → Top Fit → drop set to touch the floor. Order free samples first if you want to see the fabric in your own light.
