Parer Road House is a two-stage custom build by Donnelly Construction Group, a regional NSW builder with more than 15 years' experience. It has endless entertaining space, dramatic high ceilings and a sophisticated white palette — a house built for hosting.
Every window in it runs on a motor. Somfy motorised curtain tracks carry floor-to-ceiling sheers through the living, dining and entertaining spaces; Somfy motorised roller blinds in blockout and sunscreen fabrics look after the bedrooms. The products were specified with the builder during construction, so the wiring and pelmets were in place before the plaster went on.

Effortless control for high ceiling windows and large spans
Vaulted ceilings and window walls put the tops of the curtains well out of reach. Manual operation was never on the table — the tracks and rollers needed motors from day one.

Smart home integration with voice control
The brief called for voice control, scheduled automation, smartphone control and scenes — a smart-home job, not just a blind job.

Sit quietly in a white and timber interior
A refined white palette with warm timber floors and contemporary furniture. The window coverings had to add softness without adding clutter.

Wiring and pelmets planned at frame stage
Hard-wired Somfy motors need power at the window and room in the pelmet for the track. Both were coordinated with the builder's electricians early, so nothing had to be retrofitted.

Measuring for motorised systems
Motorised tracks and rollers are less forgiving of a wrong measurement than a chain blind. Dimensions were taken at frame stage and checked again after plasterboard.

Comfort and privacy across every zone
With three generous bedrooms, a media room, main bathroom, ensuite and open-plan living, the home accommodates extended family and guests. The window coverings had to give comfort, privacy and flexibility in every one of them.
Somfy hardware throughout, in the fabrics and finishes that suit a white-and-timber house: sheer curtains on motorised tracks in the shared spaces, blockout and sunscreen rollers on motors in the private ones, all on one TaHoma system.

Specification:
Motor types were matched to each opening — track motors for the long sheer runs, roller motors sized to the blind widths — with fabrics chosen in neutral whites and the electrical requirements handed to the site electricians before rough-in.

Measurement:
Measured at frame stage, verified after plasterboard, with pelmet depths and curtain clearances confirmed against the builder's details before manufacture.

Living and entertaining areas:
Somfy motorised curtain tracks with floor-to-ceiling sheer curtains in crisp white through the living, dining and entertaining spaces. The motors are whisper-quiet and the sheers glide on a schedule or a voice command.
Bedrooms and private areas: Somfy motorised roller blinds in blockout and sunscreen fabrics — complete light control and privacy at the touch of a button or a word to the speaker.

Smart home setup:
Everything runs through Somfy's TaHoma hub: voice control with Alexa and Google Home, sunrise and sunset schedules, smartphone control from anywhere, and scenes for entertaining, movie night and mornings.

Parer Road House is what motorisation looks like when it's planned in from the start: nothing on the walls but the fabric, and every window doing what it's told.
The sheers run on sunrise and sunset. The bedroom blockouts drop at bedtime. Guests get a remote and a five-second explanation. And because the cabling and pelmets were decided at frame stage, there isn't a visible wire or a surface-mounted box anywhere in the house.
The same Somfy hardware is what we sell online. If you're building or renovating, the trick is to decide on motorised blinds and curtains early, tell your electrician where the power needs to be, and order from the plans — our motorisation guide covers what to specify.
Somfy and Acmeda motors, blockout, sunscreen and sheer fabrics, made to measure in Australia and priced live as you configure.
