Blockout Roller Blinds in Kew 'Natural' & Sheer Curtains in Amanda 'Ecru' — Sydney, NSW

Oak & Orange—renowned interior designers behind the Dream Home series—launched their Luxe for Less series to prove that coastal luxury doesn't require a designer price tag. Luxe for Less 1: Coastal Luxe was designed to show homeowners exactly where to save and where to splurge to achieve an elegant, high-end coastal aesthetic on a realistic budget. The challenge was to deliver the relaxed luxury of coastal living—soft neutrals, natural textures, flowing fabrics—while maintaining affordability and practicality for everyday family life. Home Blinds Australia partnered with Oak & Orange to supply window furnishings that would elevate the home's Cotton Sheets white walls, Blackjack Oak vinyl floors, and Amulet Stipple carpet while staying firmly within the "luxe for less" budget philosophy.

Our Solution

Home Blinds Australia supplied a perfectly balanced window furnishing strategy for Luxe for Less 1: Coastal Luxe—pairing budget-friendly Blockout Roller Blinds in Kew 'Natural' with elegant Sheer Curtains in Amanda 'Ecru' to deliver both function and luxury.

In the Master Bedroom, we installed Kew 'Natural' blockout roller blinds paired with Amanda 'Ecru' sheer curtains. This combination was the cornerstone of Oak & Orange's "save to splurge" window covering strategy. The blockout roller blind provided the practical, affordable foundation—ensuring complete darkness for sleep, privacy from neighbours, and effective light control. The addition of Amanda 'Ecru' sheer curtains layered on top elevated the entire room, adding soft, flowing coastal elegance that diffused natural light, framed the arch mirror, and created the relaxed luxury feel central to the Coastal Luxe aesthetic.

The 'Ecru' tone of the sheer curtains was a deliberate choice, adding warmth and a subtle organic feel that perfectly complemented the room's Amulet Stipple carpet, natural linen bedding, and bamboo bedside tables—creating a cohesive, elevated coastal palette without relying on stark white.

In the Living Room, we used Kew 'Natural' blockout roller blinds as the sole window furnishing solution. Here, Oak & Orange demonstrated the "save" side of their strategy: by choosing cost-effective blockout rollers in a warm natural tone, they achieved clean, modern light control that worked seamlessly with the room's Blackjack Oak vinyl floors, bleached jute rug, and white furniture. The Kew 'Natural' rollers provided practical sun control without the added cost of layered curtains, proving that in high-traffic living zones, a well-chosen roller blind can deliver both style and function on its own.

This strategic pairing—splurging on sheer curtains in the master bedroom where softness and luxury matter most, while saving with simple roller blinds in living areas—was the key to Oak & Orange's Luxe for Less approach. The consistent use of Kew 'Natural' across both rooms maintained a cohesive material story, while the selective addition of Amanda 'Ecru' sheers in the bedroom delivered the elevated, designer feel without requiring curtains throughout the entire home.

Home Blinds Australia's DIY model was central to making this "luxe for less" strategy work. By measuring and installing the blinds and curtains themselves, Oak & Orange eliminated the cost of traditional measure-and-quote services, allowing them to invest in quality products (like the elegant ecru sheer curtains) while keeping overall window covering costs within budget.

Results

The finished result proved that coastal luxury is achievable on any budget when you know where to save and where to splurge. The master bedroom became the hero space of Luxe for Less 1—the combination of Kew 'Natural' blockout roller blinds with Amanda 'Ecru' sheer curtains delivered a soft, elegant, light-filled retreat that felt high-end and designer-led, all while maintaining practical blockout for sleep and privacy.

The living room demonstrated the power of a well-chosen roller blind: the Kew 'Natural' rollers provided clean, modern light control that worked perfectly with the coastal aesthetic, proving that not every window needs layered curtains to look polished and intentional.

Oak & Orange's "save to splurge" window covering strategy resonated with homeowners looking to achieve designer results on realistic budgets. By using affordable blockout roller blinds as the foundation throughout the home, and selectively adding sheer curtains in key spaces like the master bedroom, they proved that strategic choices—not unlimited budgets—are the key to creating luxe interiors.

The Amanda 'Ecru' sheer curtains elevated the master bedroom's coastal luxe feel, diffusing light beautifully and adding the flowing, soft texture that transforms a bedroom from functional to luxurious. The warm ecru tone worked seamlessly with the home's natural linen bedding, bamboo furniture, and neutral coastal palette, creating a cohesive, high-end aesthetic.

Home Blinds Australia's DIY approach was the linchpin of the Luxe for Less philosophy: by choosing custom-made, Australian-manufactured blinds and curtains that homeowners could measure and install themselves, Oak & Orange delivered designer-quality window furnishings at a fraction of traditional retail prices. The result? A beautiful, practical Coastal Luxe home that proved luxury doesn't require a luxury budget—just smart choices and the right partners.
