Oak & Orange—renowned interior designers behind the Dream Home series—partnered with Home Blinds Australia to bring their "Modern Aussie Resort" vision to life in Dream Home 5. The U-shaped family home, centred around a resort-style pool, required window furnishings that delivered both high-end aesthetic appeal and practical light control while staying within a realistic budget. The solution needed to complement Pebble Bay walls, polished concrete, timber, and stone finishes throughout the open-plan living spaces and five bedrooms.

Create a cohesive resort aesthetic with soft, flowing fabrics across key living spaces

Achieve full blockout and privacy in bedrooms for comfortable sleep

Balance budget constraints—save on high-volume areas to splurge on statement spaces

Add daytime privacy without sacrificing filtered light in street-facing bedrooms

Deliver a clean, minimal white-and-neutral palette that ties the entire home together

Home Blinds Australia supplied a strategic mix of window furnishings tailored to each room's function and budget priority across Dream Home 5.
In main living, dining, and master bedroom, we installed White Blockout roller blinds paired with Ivory sheer curtains. The blockout rollers (reverse-roll installation to hide hardware) provided strong light control and heat management when needed, while the floor-to-ceiling ivory sheers created the signature soft, resort-inspired look Oak & Orange wanted—diffusing harsh light and framing the pool and mountain views without blocking them.
In most secondary bedrooms, White Blockout roller blinds were used as the primary, cost-effective solution for darkness and privacy. In one street-facing bedroom, we added a dual roller system (blockout + sheer roller) to provide daytime privacy with filtered light, switching to full blockout at night.
For elevated windows and convenience, motorised roller blinds were integrated in the master bedroom and main living areas, allowing Oak & Orange's clients to control multiple large blinds at the touch of a button. Drop-ceiling pelmets concealed all curtain tracks and blind mechanisms to maintain the home's seamless, architectural finish.
All fabrics and blinds were selected in UV-resistant, easy-care materials suited to the Blue Mountains environment, ensuring long-term durability without compromising the soft, luxe aesthetic.

The finished result delivered a calm, light-enhanced interior with the relaxed luxury feel of a Modern Aussie Resort, while offering complete control over light and privacy. The cost-effective blockout roller strategy across most bedrooms freed up budget for the high-impact sheer curtains in living zones, proving that a "save to splurge" approach can deliver designer results without overspending.
Oak & Orange credited Home Blinds Australia as the partner who "helped us choose the right blinds for function, budget, and light in every room," highlighting how the layered window solution elevated the entire Dream Home 5 aesthetic while remaining practical for family living. The consistent White Blockout and Ivory palette unified the home's material story—polished concrete, timber, stone, and Pebble Bay paint—creating a cohesive, resort-inspired family home that balances softness with performance.
