When Anthony 'Harries' Carroll from Network 10's hit series Bondi Rescue needed window furnishings for his coastal Sydney home, he chose Home Blinds Australia. As a professional surf lifesaver and trusted public figure, Harries needed products that matched his high standards—quality made in Australia, a look that suits a coastal home, and easy online ordering.

Working alongside his partner Emily, Harries selected beautiful sheer curtains for their bedroom and roller blinds throughout their home. The project showcased Home Blinds Australia's complete DIY solution—from free fabric samples delivered to their door, through easy online ordering, to straightforward installation that Harries himself completed. The result? An 11 out of 10 transformation that exceeded their expectations.

Requirements & Challenges

Trusted quality for a public figure
As a respected lifeguard and television personality, Harries needed assurance that his window furnishing investment would deliver long-term performance. Required quality made in Australia, backed by a solid warranty.

Perfect colour matching and aesthetic cohesion
Emily wanted to move away from standard whites and find the perfect shade to complement their existing furnishings and coastal interior style. Needed ability to see and feel samples in their actual living space before committing.

Bedroom privacy with natural light
Required sheer curtains that would provide daytime privacy while filtering beautiful natural light, creating a calm, serene bedroom atmosphere perfect for coastal living.

Coastal home durability
Living by the coast in Sydney meant the window furnishings had to suit strong sun, salt air and humidity, and keep looking good with daily use.

Easy DIY installation
As busy professionals, Harries and Emily needed window furnishings they could install themselves without requiring professional tradespeople—simple, straightforward, with clear instructions.

Clean, modern aesthetic
Wanted a fresh, clean look that would make their home feel brighter and more open—particularly in the bedroom where the transformation would have maximum daily impact.

Our Solution

Home Blinds Australia provided Harries and Emily with our complete DIY solution—designed to make custom window furnishings accessible, affordable, and achievable for every Australian homeowner.

Free Sample Service:
We sent Harries and Emily free fabric samples directly to their home, allowing them to see, feel, and hold fabrics against their existing furnishings. This crucial step helped Emily find her perfect shade of white—not Harries' standard white, but a carefully curated tone that complemented their coastal interior perfectly.

Sheer Curtains for Bedroom:
We supplied custom-made sheer curtains in Bali 'Pearl', the white shade Emily selected, for their bedroom. Made to measure in Australia, these curtains filter natural light beautifully while providing daytime privacy, creating the serene, calm atmosphere they wanted. The transformation made the bedroom feel "so much cleaner" and brighter.

Roller Blinds Throughout:
We supplied custom roller blinds in Vibe 'Pure' blockout for multiple rooms, for light control and privacy where needed. Every blind was made to the window sizes they measured and sent us.

DIY Installation Support:
Our comprehensive installation guides and videos made the process straightforward. Harries installed the blinds himself using just a cordless drill—describing it as "quite easy" and "the quickest job you've ever done around the house." The blinds screwed straight into the wood with no complicated steps.

Why Harries Chose Home Blinds Australia:

As Harries explains: "Being a respected and trusted man out there, the first thing that I noticed with an amazing brand is there's a 5-year warranty. You wouldn't get that from other countries where if you buy offshore. So that's why I always go with Aussie-made, Aussie-owned brands".

Results

The completed transformation exceeded Harries and Emily's expectations, delivering what Harries described as "an 11 out of 10" result when he was "looking for a 9 and a half out of 10".

Homeowner Testimonial:

"I didn't create the curtain, but I did put the blinds up and it was quite easy. Most guys have got a cordless drill and it was easy—screwed straight up into the wood. The end result is like if I was looking for a 9 and a half out of 10, I got an 11 out of 10. I'm really proud." — Anthony 'Harries' Carroll, Bondi Rescue
